ATLANTIS: techno-economic model of the European electricity sector
نویسندگان
چکیده
Since the nuclear accident in Fukushima the European electricity economy has been in transition. The ongoing shut down of nuclear power plants and the widespread installation of wind power and photovoltaic generation capacities, especially in Germany, has led to a high share of intermittent renewable electricity production. This high amount of generation with very little variable cost has led to a significant decline of the prices at the European energy exchange. This has meant that many thermal power plants are no longer able to work economically and have already been shut down, although they would be needed in times of high demands and as backup capacities. Therefore, a redesign of the European electricity market is needed and in order to find out the right characteristics and effects of such a redesign pre-investigations based on simulation models are reasonable. This paper introduces ATLANTIS, which is a simulation model of the European electricity economy and covers technical as well as economic and environmental issues and allows the calculation of different scenarios up to 2050 and even beyond regarding the specific characteristics of the electricity economy. After a comprehensive introduction of the model some example applications and an outlook are presented. Dynamic Modeling of Grid Connected Photovoltaic Systems and Their Techno-Economic Assessment under Different Scenarios in Residential Sector of Several Large Cities of Iran
This research aims to model and study the techno-economic aspects of grid-connected distributed photovoltaic systems for use in the residential sector in several large cities of Iran including Esfahan, Bandar Abbas, Tehran, Tabriz, Shiraz, and Yazd. The dynamic modelling is performed using hourly metrological data and hourly electricity demand of households. The impacts of pricing policies and ...
متن کاملTechno-economic Analysis of Small Scale Electricity Generation from the Lignocellulosic Biomass
In this study, the techno-economic analysis of lignocellulosic biomass conversion to electricity in a small scale power plant was conducted. The proposed process is based on the thermal pathway of electricity production from a carbon content feed. Woods, forest and agricultural residues were considered as the biomass feed, which are available extensively in Iran. Besides, the process benefits n...

E lectricity has particular importance in the national economy and providing socio-economic welfare. It is considered an essential infrastructure of the countries development. This is why the management of electricity consumption and the formulation of proper policies for it is very important for policy-makers. To do this successfully, it is necessary to identify energy consumption p...
متن کاملThe Structure of Electricity Consumption and its Utilisation Efficiency in the European Transition Countries
Abstract – The paper considers end-use electricity consumption and efficiency trends in transition countries, i.e. ten former socialist states that are now new EU members, and the Republic of Croatia as a candidate country. For the last twenty years, transition countries are in the process of changing their social, economic and political structures with considerable influence on the electricity...
متن کاملEstimation of Electricity Demand in Residential Sector Using Genetic Algorithm Approach
This paper aimed at estimation of the per capita consumption of electricity in residential sector based on economic indicators in Iran. The Genetic Algorithm Electricity Demand Model (GAEDM) was developed based on the past data using the genetic algorithm approach (GAA). The economic indicators used during the model development include: gross domestic product (GDP) in terms of per capita and ...
